I have a 2020 Ford Super Duty truck that I put a lot of miles on driving off the interstates in unfamiliar territory. I’m always using my phone for navigation as don’t have the built-in nav option. Plus I don’t like having to look completely away from the road to the built-in screen to see where I’m supposed to be going. I’ve tried a number of different phone mounts to get my phone as high up and into my driving field of view as possible. None have worked nearly as well as this Tackform solution. First, the vent-mounted base is sturdy and stays in place, meaning it doesn’t require frequent repositioning like clip-on mounts or adhesive mounts that disbond over time in the heat under the windshield. Second, the long extension arm allows me to place my phone directly above the center of my dashboard and perfectly at the base of my driving field of view. Finally, the cooling Mag-Safe phone mount will help overcome my phone overheating (and not charging) in direct sun under my windshield (I hope - I haven’t used it much yet). Granted, putting all of these pieces together is a bit pricey and mildly cumbersome, but it works great for getting my map exactly where I want while I’m driving off the beaten path through parts unknown.
